Sometimes the best sessions come from unexpected changes – like this maternity session on the Space Coast in Florida was originally planned for Playalinda Beach. As luck would have it when we arrived the park had closed earlier than expected. We quickly pivoted to a nearby location, Oak & Palm Hammock Trails, and it ended up being an even better fit for this sweet family.
A Beautiful Alternative to the Beach
While this session did not take place on the sand as planned, Oak & Palm Hammock Trails gave us so much variety. The trail area offered beautiful natural texture, and the nearby grassy field created the soft, open feel that works so well for family and maternity portraits. Together, those two settings gave this gallery a relaxed and natural look that felt perfect for the Space Coast.
One of my favorite parts of this session was how easily this family embraced the change in plans. Instead of focusing on what did not work out, they leaned into the moment and trusted the process. That always makes such a difference.
Capturing This Season as a Family of Three
This session included the expecting mom, dad, and their 2-year-old son, which made it feel especially meaningful. Maternity photos are always about more than just documenting a pregnancy. They also capture the season of life right before everything changes.
