This summer family session in Chicago’s Southport Corridor was so much fun! Near Chicago’s Wrigley Field and nestled in the Lakeview West neighborhood, Southport is full of cute shops, tasty restaurants, and colorful murals. The Southport Corridor murals make for a great backdrop if you are looking for a colorful, fun, and playful family session like the White family!
Before even meeting the White family I knew that their session would be full of fun. When describing her children in the pre-session questionnaire, Molly shared “Charlie loves cars, trains, and rocket ships. Vivian loves everything girly. Kevin is a big Philadelphia sports fan who loves video games.” After reading her description of husband & big kid Kevin, I knew that this family session would be relaxed and full of laughter, and it did not disappoint!
We started the session near the corner of Southport and Addison with the eye-catching floral mural that brightens this stretch of the Southport strip. Two year old Charlie watched while soon-to-be kindergartner Vivian warmed up for the camera with a fun twirl and dance with mom. Next, dad and Charlie joined in on the family fun too! Both Charlie and Vivian had their turns sitting on mom and dad’s shoulders, and mom was even showered with love by her little ones with a giant, piled-up hug! Throughout the rest of the session we made our way down Southport Avenue, stopping at two other murals and having fun while we walked about.
There was so much to love about this session, but my favorite part by far was being able to watch and document siblings Charlie and Vivian interacting with one another. When asked what Molly most wanted to capture at this session, she answered “my kid’s love for each other.” How sweet is that? Once I met Charlie and Vivian my heart completely melted. Big sister Vivian was so playful and sweet with her brother, always more than willing to share a hug and a kiss and help him smile for the camera. Both of these little ones were full of smiles and just so sweet and kind. This family was an absolute delight!
