This outdoor family photo session from last summer at the Margaret Donahue Park in Chicago’s Southport Corridor neighborhood with the Dietrich family was an absolute blast and such a treat! The Margaret Donahue Park is an awesome half acre park in the heart of the Southport Corridor is a Lakeview neighborhood favorite and it is always packed with nearby school children and local families. A quick walk by this park and you are sure to smile from all the playground laughter!
Playgrounds and neighborhood parks are always a great option for family photo sessions with active little ones and when the Dietrich family chose this location for their photo session they said that Margaret Donahue Park was a good fit because it is where they already spend all of their time anyways! This ended up being the perfect location for Allison, Scott and three year old Charlotte.
We started off the session with relaxed family photos on a park bench near some greenery and once Charlotte was comfortable in front of the camera she sure warmed up fast! Sweet little Charlotte took off running circles all around the playground turf and then stopped for a break in the playhouse and a few trips down the slide. The playground turf was great for a fun game of tag and tickle sessions, while the swings were perfect for Charlotte to push both daddy and her babydoll!
It was so much fun and an absolute joy to capture three year old Charlotte totally at ease and in her element at play in the park. This session is the perfect example of how lifestyle family photo sessions should capture your family just as you are! There is no need to worry about wearing fancy outfits or uncomfortable posing, just photographing the real moments of your family’s life – all of the laughter, the play, and the overflowing love!
