It was hard not to be in a good mood on my way home from this family photo session at Chicago’s North Pond with the Petersen family in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood. The Petersen family was an absolute joy to work with and sweet little Emmeline was unbearably cute! Not to mention, the weather was absolutely perfect for a summer outdoor photo session. The weather was that perfect mix of cool but not cold, warm but not hot, which was a pleasant surprise for the end of summer! This sweet family and the fantastic weather combined with Chicago’s beautiful Lincoln Park neighborhood made for such an enjoyable way to spend my Saturday morning!
Lincoln Park has so many great photo locations to choose from and it is a wonderful location for family photos with little ones of any age. For this session, we kicked things off at the most northern point of North Pond in order to incorporate some great views of the Chicago skyline. Next, we moved along the pond’s winding path to enjoy the park’s wildflowers and beautiful greenery. My favorite location that we used for this session was a secret little hideaway right on the water nestled amongst the trees, which was perfect for some lovingly tender family moments!
More often than not at photo sessions little ones (and even grown ups!) can take a bit of time to warm up in front of the camera, but eight month old Emmeline loved the camera from the very beginning! I was immediately struck by how unbelievably happy, smiley, and playful sweet Emmeline was. Her excited clapping, toothy smile, bright blue eyes, and perfect little rolls made it hard not to have a smile on my face for the entire session! It was such a treat to be able to photograph Emmeline playfully discover grass and excitedly fly through the air.
